The Custom drawn Solar System (View large version)
The planets are often connected to worshipping cults, cabals or groups that finds symbolism in them. The average people of Havenhall also celebrate days through the year, where the planets represent something to celebrate. In-game books may cover more aspects.
The solar system is in center of many scholars attention. Theories are written, and most believe the planets to be the "Gods home", still others think it is just a "planet". Different phenomena happens on the sky, and these are described underneath each planet. The sky is the base of most celebrations that are non-religious in Havenhall, from comets to eclipses.
The Solar System consist of 7 planets, each have its own place in the world of Euron.
Thanks to Andreas Fyrileiv for drawing the solar system for the DM team based on the DM teams descriptions of the planets.
The Sun:
Many Primitive Cultures worship the sun, as the symbol of fertility, growth, life and cycle.
Celebration:
Mid-Summer festival 1 July, when the night is longest and the sun gets company by Euron's two moons - A long lasting sunset that does not end that day, it continues into a sunrise.
Most races celebrate this day. The Halflings of Havenhall seem to be most eager to drink white wine and give away food for free and arrange games. Elves celebrate this day more seriously than others, seeing it as life- giving and respect to nature, the sun is the source of their lives. Humans don’t have much thoughts of the reasons, except getting a good party out of the day, since all races celebrates it. Nature dwellers respect this day as the turning point from summer to fall.
14 March: Full eclipse of the sun: Elves worry at this date but most other races cheer and celebrate the hour lasting event.
This planet is called Morchiant, or Dark shapes. The mysterious black planet that brings fear to peoples mind.
24/8 - It passes Arda (Planet Euron) and blocks the sun. It creates a 3 day long eclipse, however the eclipse is full only the second day (25/8). People DO fear this day, the day that evil-doers worship bringing chaos to the world.
Celebration:
24 aug – 26 aug: Morchiant Eclipse. Dark factions often Celebrate this eclipse, some to draw peoples fear against them, some to gain advantage for their skills, like shadowdancers that might use the planet as symbol on their rare abilities.
Many beings that do not worship the event, fear this eclipse, some even preparing their own doom. Birds do not sing when the eclipse is full, and the City watch barely dare to do their duty.
These days Knights are helping the City Watch with morale and defending the city against any enemies that wish to bring havoc to society.
It is in fact a solar eclipse, however since the planet is as large as it is, the feelings for it grow deeper and darker.
Hith'kanta (Misty Shape)
A foggy planet. It appears blurry to the naked eye, and still mysteriously vague even through binoculars.
Scholars claim it to be the reason of fog in the morning. Planets further away from Arda is mostly known to scholars, as it is not possible to look at it with the naked eye.
There are no known celebrations of this planet due to the fact few knows it exist, save scholars.
Anga'loomi (Cloud of Iron)
A Massive planet. Scholars that study the solar system claim it to be a mass of iron. Few others even know it exist.
Celebration:
No celebrations, except dwarves that identify themselves with this planet, based on scholars' texts
Estanesse, or The firstborn is the planet closest to the sun. It is so close that it gives a faint glow and is possible to spot on some nights. The planet may barely be spotted in the mid-winter sky as it creates beautiful colors in the twilight hours.
Celebration:
Mid-winter festival, between 15 November – 1 December, Estanesse may be spotted every night when there is a clear sky. A vague red glow is visible close to the sun as if covered in winter mist. The sun is set low on the horizon, and the red planet crosses the suns path giving a nice color to the sky.
This phenomena lasts for 15 days and often gnomes seem to be more fond of this planet than others. For some it even symbolize hope in a dark world. (winter, cold and hope for warmer times). It is called the “firstborn” Because it is the smallest planet.
Elves believe that the planet once were part of the sun itself. Elves often celebrate mid-winter festival seriously while others don’t pay much attention to it, save gnomes.
Arda - the Earth (or Euron). The planet has two moons, that many people give great significance to, reflected in their celebrations. The first, white moon is named Ithil, and the blue moon is named Luin’ithil. Arda is mostly celebrated by druids and rangers, often connected to other phenomena in the sky
Celebration:
2/1, 6/3, 12/5, 18/6, 21/8, 14/9, 28/10: Ithil (Full moon) Mostly worshipped by Halflings simply because their foodcraft always gets twice as good and twice as big when there is a full moon. For Halflings it’s a symbol of successful cooking.
Luin’ithil is always full, because it travels low in the sky and does not have any orbit around Arda (its fixed to a spot and vanishes from sight as Arda spins on its axis). However at times, the earth creates a shadow on Luin’ithil and creates an eclipse. These dates are: 30/1, 6/6, 22/12. These eclipses are never full, and often hard to spot. No celebrations are known for this phenomena.
Ithil's eclipses can be seen 17/1 and 10/11 and often are celebrated for any reason, mainly the phenomena itself. Cults worshipping the dead, and undead, often look on the pale white moon eclipse as a source of power and good times. Elves may celebrate this event seriously as part of the nature aspect, floodings may occur at these dates.
Celeb'runya (Silver Flame)
A planet of Ice and cold winds.
Scholars claim it to be the frozen planet that creates winter on Arda. The planet is an Icon for people that enjoys winter, the cold and mighty nature and the destruction by nature. The planet is seen as a large star in winter nights, thought few knows it is this planet, and not some ordinary star.
Celebration:
No celebrations are known connected to this planet. However from scholar texts some might know that north dwellers identify themselves with this planet.
